Would like to report something:

Phantoes don't respond when Link grabs a key. They just sit there.

that's probably bc phanto detection is tied to holding the key. Link just absorbs the key and can't drop it (so come to think of it, he would be in a disadvantage)

Still using the legacy editor? Get SMBX2 and PGE, it will improve your experience significantly. Here's why. And remember, Yoshis are tools to be used and discarded.

It's definitely an oversight. Thanks for finding it.

I just recently installed SMBX2 Beta 4 for the first time, but when I press the SMBX2.exe it couldn't work for me.

Could anyone have a solution for this?

Added in 10 minutes 54 seconds:
Yeah, it seems working for me now (I reinstalled it on Download folder, since I first installed it on smbx folder on my Pictures so it likely didn't even work). But when I first loading a episode it gives me THIS:

Can't anybody give me a solution of this? :(

Added in 15 minutes 50 seconds:
And also, fortunately, the editor still works. But unfortunately, when I'm testing a level...

AND NOT EVEN PATCH 2 / HOTFIX DIDN'T EVEN WORK BECAUSE IT LACKED SOME THINGS WHICH NEEDED FOR THE PROGRAM TO WORK!! IT GIVE ME 4 ERROR MESSAGES AFTER I RUN IT!!

Shouting won't help if you can't actually share those 4 error messages or say what was missing. It clearly works for 99% of people, so it's important you, as the one person it doesn't work for, can share all details about what is going wrong so that we can help resolve that.
As for the error you're experiencing, that looks to me like a permissions issue. Is this your computer, or do you merely occupy a user with limited rights on it?

Yeah, and but that's not the permission issues, but probably the anti-virus program issues I think...

Added in 9 minutes 14 seconds:
EDIT: I unistalled the anti virus program and the problem has been now being solved now. Thanks.

Ah, yeah. Antivirus can usually manage file permissions. So tangentially related. Glad you figured it out!

You probably installed standalone patch 2, the one that comes in a rar, that is supposed to be applied to an older install of X2, now that you have an older version then I guess you could apply patch 2 to it, though you probably installed regular SMBX2 already patched so I guess it’s not necessary

Would like to report a bug:

If an enemy is overlapping a star coin(In this case, the enemy is a SMW boo), and the player spinjumps the boo, the star coin will disappear without the player collecting it.

I have a suggestion for the next release: More customization for the Phanto enemies.

I think it would be very nice to be able to adjust the speed of a phanto (I tried to modify it using npc config text files, but it didn't have any effect), plus be able to adjust how wide their sine wave motion stretches.

Found a bug--
HOW TO REPRODUCE THIS CRASH:
Throw a POW Block (FROM A VEGETABLE) onto SMB2 Diggable Sand (found this one on accident when playing through a level)

I don't think that causes the crash. I tried throwing a POW block onto 2 different kinds of diggable sand (the block and the NPC) and it didn't crash the game.

Also, another bug report:
Using "Captainn" cheat code (stops time) hit a P-switch during stopped time and then unstop time causes game to crash.

By chance did you first get it from grass (container)? Does that make a difference, because I got my POW from grass (container)?

Try that and see if it crashes. Also maybe try in a Mario Challenge run and see if that makes a difference.

Have you tried yourself if it's reproduced several times, or maybe it was a random occurence?

It seems like it just happens sometimes because I've thrown the POW and it doesn't do it when testing from the editor--it seemed like a random occurence

Hey devs/community in general,

Has anyone had any success with getting SMBX2 running on MacOS? I'm on a Mac, but would really love to edit using SMBX2 rather than the LM ROM editor (which I have managed to get running, courtesy of this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f9vROQJ-9c) tutorial) which is pretty old, technical, and clunky to use.

Realistically, I don't want to run a VM or install Windows via BootCamp. I've tried the Wine method of the above tutorial, as well as PlayOnMac; neither work for me. I'd love to hear some suggestions, as I've spent a lot of time trying various methods to no avail. :/

SMBX2 can work on Wine on macOS up to 10.14 (Mojave). Since 10.15 (Catalina) the 32-bit support has been dropped, and Wine can't work now. Until a magic will happen and they will develop a workarond to allow 32-bit apps work again. So, think that SMBX2 is dead on macOS 10.15+. You can try run virtual machine, but the game will work a bit messy and slower. On VMWare it will probably work good I think. Didn't tested that yet. If you have macOS 10.14 or older, you can try to run the game on Wine. You need to get the native PGE Projec toolchain for macOS to use Editor with it: http://wohlsoft.ru/docs/_laboratory/ (then, you'll need to run a special script that you can find in SMBX2 directory which will install a config pack and will tune the Wine, the manual md file is attached to explain the whole process).
