The texture you used insinuates sand or mud instead of dirt. It can be used for both.

Because of the use of colours that many people would associate with beach areas and not... y'know. Dirt. (That's how I saw it as sand)
Kinda like the sand blocks in SMB2. (I think they are sand)

Shading looks off to me. Although I haven't really worked on it for a long period of time, if anything, I kinda rushed it.
Hopefully it looks somewhat decent. (Definitely was heavily inspired by Enji's version)

Here are some more graphical edits of mine, this time off of two of Shikaternia's tilesets.

This one is an edited version of their YI's tileset as featured in part 2 and the completed work, or something like that. I added some slight shading on the blocks as well as the unused variations of them (Including the background arch), and some slight shading on the background.
And the other one:

This one is an edited version of their "Sandstone" Tileset as I call it, which strangely was only featured in part 3, and not in the compiled work. I wanted to use this tileset for my SMW ROM Hack, so I decided to fix it up.
They aren't exactly completed yet, but I'm wondering what you all will think about them.

That does look really nice, but I'm not entirely certain on where those darker sizables would fit in. Also, those background objects in the bottom right look really familiar, did you base their design on anything in particular?

But the eyes are blocks. Rinkas are NPCs and are round...not solid squares

Thanks for the nice words, about the hills, I know Lowsers conquest also has hills with patterns but I didn't really think of that when I made them, now that you put it like that they really do look like a ripoff of sednaiur, but oh well, they are for my episode anyway. Also, the darker sizables are for usage when there allready stands a lighter sizable and in order to make "Walls" in the background.

The hills look really nice. It has good texture and it doesn't look plastic to me. Each graphic has the right about of texture and looks detailed. Keep going!

I don't think I deserve such a praise, but thanks for the kind words anyway. also, yeah I did base the in-block decorations off of Shikaternia's forest tiles.

Thanks Catastrophe, I usually like to make lots of In-block decorations for my tilesets and details in the graphics in order to make it look more interesting. thanks for the positive feedback
