I wasn't expecting that for a final boss fight. It was very different, and it was designed well. It has earned its spot at the top.

MaGL X2 Level Breakdowns:
  • 40th - swirlybomb: 'Ewww! the Magikoopa Are All Covered in Rind!!!!' - 75.34 (94/68/64):
    Spoiler: show
    Name Difficulty: Medium
    Final Score: 75.3433333333
    Name Mulligans: 0
    Character Mulligans: 0
    Raw Score: 75.3333333333
    Horikawa's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 94
      Uniqueness: 14
      Personal Fun Factor: 24
      Other Person Fun Factor: 23
      Music: 8
      Graphics: 9
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 10
Comments: Still laughing over the plot! Sooo good~! It's easy to make something 'Zelda,' but hard to capture the 'Zelda' experience. You did that so well!!! Maybe have a second star though for all the secrets!
    Sturg's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 68
      Uniqueness: 8
      Personal Fun Factor: 15
      Other Person Fun Factor: 16
      Music: 8
      Graphics: 7
      Character Use: 4
      Level Name Adherence: 9
Comments: Although a bit 'fetch quest-y', the general Zelda tone was enjoyable. Little tidbits i.e. hidden rooms and the mini-boss were neat, and the Orange Magikoopas were creative, even if they were basically Rinkas.
    Quill's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 64
      Uniqueness: 10
      Personal Fun Factor: 13
      Other Person Fun Factor: 14
      Music: 7
      Graphics: 6
      Character Use: 4
      Level Name Adherence: 9
Comments: Decent level. The use of Link was done well, though some of the areas required to advance were hidden weirdly and not entirely obvious
    39th - ztarwuff: 'Behold, There Is a Ring! Look!' - 75.66 (64/73/90):
    Spoiler: show
    Name Difficulty: Medium
    Final Score: 75.6666666667

      Other Person Fun Factor: 16
      Music: 5
      Graphics: 4
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 8
Comments: Really nice use of your characters - felt like swapping became a core mechanic! Maybe a little visually messy though. I'd LOVE to see an episode designed with this much care paid to the switch mechanic!
    Sturg's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 73
      Uniqueness: 11
      Personal Fun Factor: 19
      Other Person Fun Factor: 15
      Music: 8
      Graphics: 6
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 8
Comments: Although the architecture was confusing when figuring out what could be stood on or not, the combined platforming with Peach and Luigi was designed really well. I also love that the level is ring-shaped. :P
    Quill's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 90
      Uniqueness: 15
      Personal Fun Factor: 20
      Other Person Fun Factor: 21
      Music: 10
      Graphics: 8
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 10
Comments: Fantastic level. The exploration is amazing and the gimmick of changing the characters is very effective and fun. Excellent job!
    38th - Lunatic Quark: 'Chain Chomp in The Canada' - 76 (91/64/73):
    Spoiler: show
    Name Difficulty: Medium
    Final Score: 76
    Name Mulligans: 0
    Character Mulligans: 0
    Raw Score: 76

      Personal Fun Factor: 24
      Other Person Fun Factor: 22
      Music: 6
      Graphics: 10
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 10
Comments: Amazing!!! You used your character well, the graphics were great, and you used the name in a hilarious way. Great LunaLua use too! I knew leaving in some of those 'the's was a good idea…
    Sturg's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 64
      Uniqueness: 9
      Personal Fun Factor: 14
      Other Person Fun Factor: 16
      Music: 8
      Graphics: 7
      Character Use: 2
      Level Name Adherence: 7
Comments: The Robot in the distance was pretty neat visually! For a majority of the level it felt like I could easily skip obstacles, like tanking with loads of power-ups or completely flying over section 2.
    Quill's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 73
      Uniqueness: 11
      Personal Fun Factor: 13
      Other Person Fun Factor: 16
      Music: 10
      Graphics: 7
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 10
Comments: Nice level. Design was basic, but the chase was fun and not too difficult. Good job.
37th - Isrieri: 'Personally, I Think That Mario Is Missing Is a Very Observant and Fantastic Experience. I Captured That Here' - 76.66 (93/51/86):
    Spoiler: show
    Name Difficulty: Hard
    Final Score: 76.6666666667
    Name Mulligans: 0
    Character Mulligans: 0
    Raw Score: 76.6666666667
    Horikawa's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 93
      Uniqueness: 15
      Personal Fun Factor: 21
      Other Person Fun Factor: 23
      Music: 10
      Graphics: 10
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 7
Comments: Honestly, I would have given this level a near-perfect score if you had used LunaLua to save dragon coin progress. That slightly tarnishes what is otherwise an INCREDIBLE level.
    Sturg's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 51
      Uniqueness: 8
      Personal Fun Factor: 9
      Other Person Fun Factor: 7
      Music: 6
      Graphics: 8
      Character Use: 4
      Level Name Adherence: 7
Comments: This is a good example of choosing quantity over quality. You went waaaaay overboard with the Dragon Coins. Trying to find them all in the giant, empty maze in one go was tedious as heck.
    Quill's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 86
      Uniqueness: 15
      Personal Fun Factor: 21
      Other Person Fun Factor: 13
      Music: 10
      Graphics: 10
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 10
Comments: This is a super interesting level! The atmospheric is gorgeous and the level design reflects that. The exploration is great, aside from how easy it is to get lost. Maybe shorten the Dragon Coins needed?
    36th - DiogenesKC: 'Banzai Bill Castle' - 77 (76/79/76):
    Spoiler: show
    Name Difficulty: Easy
    Final Score: 77

      Other Person Fun Factor: 20
      Music: 7
      Graphics: 9
      Character Use: 1
      Level Name Adherence: 10
Comments: Yaay! You made a Mother Brain fight fun! I loved the concept of this level and how you twisted the title into something really creative and fun!
    Sturg's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 79
      Uniqueness: 13
      Personal Fun Factor: 20
      Other Person Fun Factor: 20
      Music: 10
      Graphics: 8
      Character Use: 3
      Level Name Adherence: 5
Comments: The idea of invading a castle is done tremendously and the multiple paths made it seem bigger without making it longer. There was confusion telling which Bob-bomb did what, since they all looked the same.
    Quill's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 76
      Uniqueness: 12
      Personal Fun Factor: 14
      Other Person Fun Factor: 16

      Graphics: 9
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 10
Comments: This was pretty good! The concept was very enjoyable and it was silly, yet very fun.
    35th - McKnackus I: 'Spiny Castle' - 77.33 (91/65/76):
    Spoiler: show
    Name Difficulty: Easy
    Final Score: 77.3333333333

      Music: 9
      Graphics: 8
      Character Use: 3
      Level Name Adherence: 8
Comments: I LOVED THIS LEVEL SO MUCH OMFG. I love level designers who can make such strong, bold choices~. It's kinda amazing how well this worked! Man picking my favourite this year is gonna be HARD.
    Sturg's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 65

      Graphics: 5
      Character Use: 5
      Level Name Adherence: 9
Comments: I honestly wasn't expecting much just from those first two empty screen, but I was kind of blown away suddenly transitioning into the actual level. What a dumb/awesome idea, although sometimes the spin-jumping got repetitive.
    Quill's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 76
      Uniqueness: 15
      Personal Fun Factor: 15
      Other Person Fun Factor: 15

Comments: What a beautiful level. It's so clever yet so very dumb.

      Graphics: 8
      Character Use: 3
      Level Name Adherence: 10
Comments: Be careful with exposition. It got to be a bit much in the first half. LOVED your Mother Brain fight though! Very unique and tons of fun. You nailed the tone of this level too!!

      Character Use: 3
      Level Name Adherence: 8
Comments: A bit text-heavy, but I loved the concept behind this level. I also love how this was a clever excuse to take individual graphics from every Mario game and mash them all together at once.

    • Final Score: 86

Comments: Love the creativity shown here! The level is lots of fun and the level name was used super creatively! The secret boss was also pretty awesome too.

      Level Name Adherence: 6
Comments: What a fun and enjoyable romp! I loved playing this level and think the usage of Subcon instead of regular ol' Kirby Dreamland is super clever! Also did you find the HAL parody room?

Comments: It's a good level with that's just good in general. There's nothing mind-blowing, but there's nothing bad at all, aside from the slide being a bit broken.

Comments: I hope you win. This level was basically perfect. Nearly a perfect score from me! The ONLY note I'd have is that having to beat the level twice is kinda unnecessary?

Comments: Groovy level, although I kinda wish it crazier than it is, but the 'Light' show was pretty nifty! We all should consider at least once in our lives to eat the mushroom.

      Level Name Adherence: 8
Comments: Can I say I absolutely ADORE the hand-drawn setting? Especially the thunder clouds in the back. My only wish of this level is that it did more with the invisible block gimmick besides providing power-ups.
    Quill's Breakdown

      Level Name Adherence: 7
Comments: Great! But it was kinda visually saturated? Like it looked good, but it was kinda hard to tell what was what at times! Also loved the cameos. I was in it so 102/100 gg.
    Sturg's Breakdown
    • Final Score: 91

      Level Name Adherence: 9
Comments: Despite it's meta quality, I loved the setting created around the talkhaus. That 'jungle temple' tileset in particular was a beautiful choice. There's some really intuitive design utilizing Peach and Link, such as Mishi's section.

Comments: The use of Birdo to help advance was incredibly creative. I really liked the enemy placement as well; it fit well with the design of the level.

Comments: Those bombs were super-gross and kinda disgusting! >.<. Otherwise this level was like freaking amazing in a lot of ways. The boss was a RIOT and you used Link in really new ways throughout!

Comments: Two Things: The lenghty fetch quest right before the challenging section was silly, and the mid-point felt a bit lop-sided. Other than that, this level was AMAZING and I loved the use of the title.

Comments: Fantastic level! I loved the creative use of moving layers to enhance your level design and the boss battle was a simple idea, but it was executed very well.

Comments: If SMBX Community-style level design is to truly shine, it needs to be like this. This La-Mulana-esque room design + saving your progress makes this incredibly fun. I simply adored exploring~. Ahhh! This was so good!!!!

Comments: It's like playing a completely different game. The pure exploration in this giant treasure hunt was crazy awesome. Some areas felt cramped with enemy spam, but the ability to permanently save progress promptly balances that.

Comments: This was honestly a fantastic level. The collectables were a very unique idea and the fire/ice level mechanic was used very creatively. Excellent job!

Well, I like my place, is really cool and is a great conquest ( I almost obtained a premium haha), thanks to all judges and everyone! About my level, I really like it ( the music too), I tried make a nice graphic for this atmosphere, and I put many gimmicks for that you have a nice gameplay. I wanted put more things in the level, but it would be more long. About the boss, i wanted make a great boss, but I've used the limit of layer and events, and this is a problem, anyway, and her is easy because I don't wanted make a "frustrating level"... ( and is my first boss maybe?). Thanks again! and congratulation for all participants and the top 3! Really this contest have great levels and ideas, congratulations guys again!! ;)
