Updated

Added in 1 hour 16 minutes 29 seconds:
Also, basically this is the first round of qualifications.

How the first round will work is that I will contact all the active community participants who are not banned and have a discord I can chat with.
The reasoning for this is for convenience purposes and updating people on the voting process.

The participants will vote yes or no to if a level should reach level of the year.
Levels will be eliminated based on how many yes' or no's that level has. They can change their votes at any time.
Last year, creating level of the year was a logistical nightmare and was extremely time-consuming so as a result I need to find a better system of running this event so I don't feel as stressed out or tired last time I was running this.

If a participant does not vote a yes or no on all the forms and misses one their vote will not count.

Hey, so I've decided to only make forms at the end of the year since it's a lot less time-consuming and in this case I can actually dm people.

Hey, so for level of the month, I was thinking about avoiding putting in any of the CCXN1 due to technicality reasons and instead just put the top X amount of levels into level of the year qualifications.

What does everyone think as I would like feedback on what to do?

I think the top 5 would be a p. reasonable amount to put in imho.

How do you determine the Top 5? If it's based on vote count, it's bad for levels in months with less voting activity. Otherwise it would also be a subjective thing.

Still using the legacy editor? Get SMBX2 and PGE, it will improve your experience significantly. Here's why. And remember, Yoshis are tools to be used and discarded.

Based on the scores of the judges. Still not sure how judge levels will be treated in that if the judges do make levels though.

huh I completely misread. Thought this years LoTY would just consist of 5 levels overall. Nevermind me.

Would it be wise to give any CCX1 level that got above a specific score the spot of the "Level of the Year"?

Re: Level of The Year Qualifiers [October Update + Contests Update]

Postby Eclipsed » Mon Nov 16, 2020 4:13 pm

Hey
1. I decided to have a score cutoff for contests of 80. Rounding the scores AndrewPixel's level is practically an 80 so it's added to the list of levels.
2. YoshiSuperStar participated in the 3rd 38A contest and received an above 80 score.
3. I added the October levels that made it in via poll.

sancels should win level of the year because "those unwilling to listen" is perfect social commentary on the year as a whole.
kaizo start symbolizes our struggles throughout the pandemic
math quiz is emblematic of exams
the tight darkness section shows just how hard social distancing is
waiting 12 minutes is the perfect metaphor for quarantine. the koopas that come up are stray encounters with people not following the guidelines
the getting over it section highlights the tightrope we walk on a day to day basis
the larry koopa boss fight shows how little reward we often get for our efforts
the dead end section shows all of life's dead ends
and then the level doesn't even conclude

it may not be a good level, but it's art.
Ideas are useless if you can't make them real.
