Problems you have creating levels

The title says it all

Everyone does have a problem, a weakness while they are creating levels

EVEN YOU! yeh, you, the guy who always make beatiful and extremely fun/hard/long levels

In my case, my problem is that sometimes I don't know when to stop putting backgrounds or NPCs, I'm not always sure if it would be okay even if I test the level or something

Also I've been lack of creativity lately, adding that I'm not too good taking decisions for make the level better

I run out of ideas for challenging setups (since that's how I build my levels) too quickly.

Make challenging but fair levels that does need to be fun and have to be very well done...

Isn't that easy

Many people just put enemies everywhere and hurting blocks

I don't know where to place my level assets, I usually end up assuming I did good with them, when I really didn't.
Don't expect me to post here often, if at all.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that this isn't supposed to happen.

One of the more recent levels I had exactly this problem. I made it through a solid section with some great set-ups and then just crashed and burned

  • block/coin/enemy (and maybe background object) placement
  • avoid graphic clashing
  • abstain from making the level bland/empty
  • challenges/gimmicks

I make too long levels and I place things randomly. I really have to improve my level design.

I always want to make every level to have their own thing, their gimmick, and make it harder and harder the more you advance in the level.
The problem is, after 20 levels, I have no freaking idea what to do in the level 21, so I get stuck, looking at the level and thinking "what can I do now that I didn't in the other levels?"
So, I get stuck, and lose a lot of time.

I take a great deal of time making my levels, since I need to be in the mood. This might mean that just starting one level takes one month to half a year. When I do start creating, however, I keep at it until greatness is achieved.

The level I'll send you later was started in January, yet it wasn't really made until June, and I still didn't use all of my ideas! Hopefully, however, it's still good.
