The most "Cartoony" Sega game(s) in your opinion

Postby FireyPaperMario » Thu Apr 20, 2017 5:43 pm

I might be full of it, but I think some Sega games looks very cartoon-like in graphics & gameplay-wise! So yeah, post the Sega game (Arcade, Master System, Genesis, Game Gear, Saturn, Dreamcast) that you think is the cartoony-ish game you ever played!

My answer:

  • Fantasy Zone (Arcade)
  • Fantasy Zone II W (Arcade)
  • Gunstar Heroes (Genesis)

Alex Kidd games are no doubt pretty cartoony. Now if only the main character wasn't so weak...

Sonic has always been pretty cartoony if you don't count the adventure games and *cough* Sonic '06.

Especially Sonic Jam 6, where you play SMB1 All-Stars as Sonic.

If we're going by the standard definition of cartoon, technically all 2D Sega games count as "cartoony", so it's not really that subjective.

I personally agreed with you BTB! Altered Beasts is one of those old Sega games that looks too serious.

Sonic Boom :V

Monster World IV nailed the cartoon look purdy well.

Also question: do you mean made BY Sega, published by Sega, or on a Sega console? This distinction is important.

Oh heck yea. (Asha for SMBX2 Beta 4!!)
Another cartoony Sega game I can think of... I can't leave out Mega Bomberman for the Genesis/MegaDrive, AKA Bomberman '94 as ported from the PC-Engine (and actually translated). A decent port despite some minor losses, Westone's Sega port of this classic still retains the flair and the fun of the original.
Something something signature something.

Normally, I'll only allow actually Sega games, but I'll allow Mega Bomberman!
