And please note, I'm excluding the sprites of Mario riding Yoshi due to being faithful to GBC limitations.
I like this sheet! Though about the last part (excluding Yoshi)... if the player attempts to ride Yoshi when using these sprites then it's gonna look off, it'll either throw an error of some sort or it will make the character look like the default Mario sprite when riding Yoshi.

I would highly recommend looking at other sprite examples of how rocks are drawn/shaded. Assuming that's the direction you're taking.

I did, and I just can't get it to work, this is the best result I got :'l

I like how vibrant they are! Something about the ground textures seem a little off to me, though.

Sadly you need PGE to use them correctly: 8x8 grid so they can be placed in the center, but it's okay since a lot of people uses PGE
