Problem replacing star pickup sound with custom one

Postby darkhog » Thu Dec 15, 2016 11:13 pm

Tried to replace star collection (ending star) sound with another one so I've put custom got-star.ogg in my world's folder, but it still played one that plays regularly. What did I do wrong?

Did you remember to make a "sounds.ini" file in that same folder and type this in it?:

Code: Select all

[sound-52]
name="Got Star Exit"
file="got-star.ogg"
I've decided to cancel SMBXville Under Seige. After my 1st Senior year of college, I realized I wouldn't have enough time to devote to finishing my four-level episode. Apologies to those who cared.

Ah, so that's what was wrong. Thought it was as simple as replacing graphics. If possible, SMBX2 team should improve this.

I don't know how easy it would be to create automatic sound.ini files based on the filenames of sound files in the episode and level folder, but I can guarantee you that "getting rid" of sounds.ini is not an option and would greatly break compatibility with existing features and limit what people could do with sound effects in the future (renaming and sorting into different folders).
Ideas are useless if you can't make them real.
