can't take SMBX screenshots using a windows 8 laptop

Postby silent_ » Sat Oct 17, 2015 9:10 am

I recently upgraded to windows 8, downloaded SMBX 1.3.0.1, created a "screenshots" folder since it didn't come with the download, made a level, pressed F12 to take a screenshot, looked in the screenshots folder, and nothing was there.

Does this have something to do with F12 on my computer turning up the brightness on my screen or something? And is anyone else having this issue?

Was your SMBX Window active aka in the foreground? This counts on both the Level Window or the main SMBX Window.

Did you install SMBX to Program Files?

I just redownloaded SMBX entirely and extracted it into Program Files (it asked me for administrator permission), created a screenshots folder, went to SMBX, pressed F12, and it still doesn't work. Is there a way to change the button used to take a screenshot? It might have something to do with that.

Try installing it to a different location, like your desktop or Documents folder. In addition, you may want to click the "Compatibility Files" button when viewing your C:\Program Files\SMBX folder and see what comes up.

Never mind, I figured it out. I had to move SMBX back to my desktop, go to SMBX, press Fn and F12 at the same time to take a screen instead of merely pressing F12, then it appeared in my screenshots folder.

Oh, looks like you're using a laptop. That's probably why.

my F12 disables wireless, so yeah i have to hold down Fn as well. Or I'll disconnect from everything.
[01:17:53] <Exiled_Bowser> Finally! I do not get a damn "2" added to my name when I dc and reconnect.
[01:19:18] <Exiled_Bowser> Bowser's Exile 2 will not be out or will ever be out for years! That is a Joke folks...I have no intention of making a second when I haven't even done the first to completion yet.

Speaking of which, just check out the thread for my Episode Project right here!
