inbetween sections Don't put them in between the sections; put the entrance inside one section, then put the exit inside another section. Pipe warps don't function outside the level boundaries. If that doesn't work, try uploading your level for us and letting us know exactly what you're trying to do.

What are you talking about? There are character switch blocks at the beginning of world 1 and 2, even in v. 1.00.

I admit that most of the levels weren't designed with Peach in mind, though.

On the NPC's death, instead of hiding the layers, make them move really fast off-screen (preferably in the opposite direction they're generating from; if they're generating downward, move them upward). A speed of 99 should be enough (or -99 depending on the generators' direction).

All I can think of is that you renamed the file extension of the image instead of saving it as a certain image type or using an image converting program. Try opening it in Paint.net and saving it as a GIF (remember to set dithering to 0). If all else fails, upload the file so we can take a look at it.

Which background are you replacing and what file-type is your image? Most background replacements don't need to have the same properties as their original background to work as long as they're GIFs.
