What are your thoughts on joke levels?

Joke levels have been a somewhat regular fixture of contests, and they still continue to remain popular today. You will likely see them among the first levels being played in almost every ToB and similar contest-related episodes. These levels usually don't take themselves seriously, and aren't suppo...

Re: Another SMB3 Remake - It was already time

Are you also planning to add the World-e levels as well? They could work pretty well as a neat bonus area.

Re: Mario&Luigi: Bowser's Reign BETA TESTERS NEEDED

The concept actually looks interesting. I haven't seen many levels that revolve around the 2 player function, but this one takes the 2 player function and runs a whole episode based around it. This could open the way for some fun gimmicks.

Re: How long did YOU play smbx

Been playing since end of 2009 (or was it 2010?) when I somehow stumbled across supermariobrothers.org when looking for flash games. I recall the first version I got was the 1.1.2 version, which came packaged with The Princess Cliche, The Great Castle Adventure and The Invasion 1. The second one was...

Re: The "What happened to that SMBX user?" thread

So I haven't been popping around for ages, and a lot of the faces seem to have changed since I last appeared. With that being said, there's a few names that I do recall from my older days which have largely subsided or otherwise disappeared: - HeroOfRhyme - zlakergirl357 - Vinyl Scratch - Chill Ping...

Used to use Firefox due to a certain extension I wanted to use only working with Firefox. I switched over to Chrome in 2014 and haven't looked back since.

Why are switch hunts frowned upon?

So I do recall a period several years back, nonlinear levels that had a lot of excessive backtracking and exploration, while relying a lot on switch hunts, were all the rage. A lot of levels that scored highly in reviews and did well in contests revolved around switch hunts, where as the name implie...

Also is Linik still helping in this?

I'm still in the background for this project. I've been working on some stuff with the team behind the scenes, ensuring that levels are complete and so on.

Re: What would you say is the most broken powerup?

Why you say that powerups such as Lakitu's shoe and the Hammer Suit are broken? I like them the way they are because they help me a lot (I'm an eternal noob at this game, really). Especially when fighting bosses. The thing is with them, if the designer implements such powerups poorly then they can ...

Might as well bump this, but Sword and Shield has been out for a month now. What are you guys' thoughts on it? Did it live up to the hype? How have you been finding it?

What would you say is the most broken powerup?

Powerups. They're a fundamental gameplay mechanic in Mario games, let alone SMBX. Various ones exist that allow for different things to happen, such as allowing you to take a hit, take off into the skies, or even throw hammers that can pretty much defeat many enemy NPCs. As many powerups there are i...

I.. don't know if i'm right about this or not.. But HeroLinik appears to have vanished from the forums for a long extended period of time now. Does anyone know his current situation? Alright, so it has indeed been a while since I've posted in the SMBX community, but some of you may have found it pr...

So how was The Last Jedi? [SPOILER WARNING!]

So as you all probably know, the eighth instalment to the long-running (now 40 years!) Star Wars franchise has hit cinemas last weekend. For those of you that have seen it, what have been your thoughts on it, and for those of you that are yet to see it, are you planning to see it at all? As for me, ...

Re: Mario Classic 2. (1.4.3)

A sequel to zephyr's episode, Mario Classic? Or does this stand on its own? It stands on it's own. It's a sequel to my project which coincidentally has the same name. http://wohlsoft.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=1383 If that's the case, you may want to clarify that this project has no relation to ...

Well, the chances are that people don't know what it is, and if you explain to them that you liked this cool fangame called "Super Mario Bros. X" the chances are that they will check it out.

Re: The problem with most new users

What they really need to do is make those rules bars that appear at the top of other forums, like on NSMBX - that outlines the fundamental rules of what to do when making levels/projects/etc. so new users don't miss them. Let's be honest here, nobody even wants to read the rules likely due to them t...

Re: Overrated Video Games?

Super Mario Bros 3. Like, yes, i agree, it is a pretty cool game with a diverse selection of powerups in it and such, but the original NES release was WAY too long for being a game your excepted to play in one sitting, imo, Super Mario World is better because you can actually save and such, yeah, i...

Re: Overrated Video Games?

I bet Sonic 3D Blast is extremely an overrated game ...How? Just how? Would you call a game that has frustrating controls and having tedious quests like finding all the Flickies overrated? If anything there are more people that hate the game as opposed to like it, and even by the looks of things yo...

same when one of them post a graphic or anything, and everyone jump on them to tell what is wrong with graphics and doing tons of recommandations. So we're now saying that it's rude to point out faults in certain stuff and then advise them on how to improve? Jeez, that's one messed-up society. The ...
