Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

It's not in the lunalua documentation because knowledge about variables is properly explained across tutorials for lua itself, and programming languages as a whole. The documentation properly describes that loadFont returns a font object... local myFont = textplus.loadFont(Misc.resolveFile("path_to...

Re: Need help with lua? - LunaLua General Help

Yeah that's not how that works. Misc.resolveFile returns a string. You're doing exactly the same thing you were doing before, because you don't use the result of Misc.resolveFile anywhere. You need to put that function call instead of the file path when you try to load the font. You also need to st...

Re: Your controversial SMBX opinion

People still using GIFs for graphics and MP3s for audio in X2 gets on my nerves. I'm pretty sure 38A supports these formats as well, considering they both use SDL and SDL Mixer X.

(although I don't play 38A so I'm not quite sure, correct me if I'm wrong.)

Re: The Invasion 3

To go even further on that, you can also use mostly base-game music and .spcs. I do not think custom NPCs would exactly "bloat" the file-size however. Agreed with you there. Although SPCs are only for SNES music. Luckilly, SMBX2 supports OGG (better and smaller than MP3, and you can loop it) as wel...

You had better not add Creepers and Skeletons.

Re: How did you discover SMBX?

I found it on SMWCentral as an afiliate link... while trying to learn how to hack NSMBWii. I started with 1.3.0.1 even though Beta 3 was out, although I later installed it on a seperate device.

Re: Help with World Map Music!

Firstly, which version are you using?

Legacy (1.3)
38A (1.4)
SMBX2 (2.0)
TheXTech (A port of 1.3 to C++ with a few extra features)

Secondly, are you tryng to utlise custom world map music? That requires a bit of fiddling.

Wrong catergory.
Aside from that, I'm not sure how to change the path appear speed. That said, you can change the sounds of your episode using a sounds.ini file.

Re: SPEEDIE's archived stash of episodes.

When I started creating the episode, I didn't know SMBX supported it, I realized it late and didn't want a mix so I just kept using it. Also i'm not sure how well custom sampled songs work. Ah, okay. They work fine, as you may see from the vanilla SNES music (they are SPCs). Of course, that does me...

Re: SPEEDIE's archived stash of episodes.

It appears you are suing MP3-ified versions of SMW custom music in "A SMBX Episode". Is there any reason to using them in MP3 format rather than in the SNES SPC format, which SMBX2 supports? When I started creating the episode, I didn't know SMBX supported it, I realized it late and didn't want a m...

Re: Unpopular game opinions

Ha ha bump/necropost/whatever you call it Mario Party 9 is actually good, Minecraft is dying, all old/retro video games should be given to the community and released under the GNU General Public License and Pokemon should put all the older 'mons, including the original 151 and the popular ones, on a...

Re: Level music suggestion thread

Actually, considering that its all SPC you can probaby use the YI music on SMW Central

https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&s=yimusic

EDIT - Well, there's only 12 tracks on there because like I said it is still SPC and as such is used for both YI and SMW. But still.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. X

Would I be able to copy the PGE config into my personal PGE installation without breaking anything? It just seems a bit unnecessary to have two copies of PGE on the same computer. Yes, you can, however, it's integrational config pack, and to make it work, you should edit it's "main.ini": you need t...
