Efforts on preserving Flash games

As many of you will have heard, official support of Flash will end this year, and many Flash games will either disappear or pose a severe threat to your device. Recently I've heard about endeavours to preserve Flash games and to provide people opportunities to play them safely. This is what I could ...

Re: SMBX2 BETA 4 Release - Feedback and Suggestions here!

More feedback on the demo levels. In Bowser's demo level, there is a typo in Harald's speech: "feat not" rather than "fear not". edit : Afterwards, Bowser talks about "glibberish" rather than gibberish. /edit In Educational Plundering, I would add a savepoint before the race section. I think it's an...

Re: SMBX2 BETA 4 Release - Feedback and Suggestions here!

I've been playing some of the demo levels recently, to re-familiarise myself with some of the exotic characters, and came across two supposed issues. The first one I already noticed a couple of versions back, the second one could be beta4-only. In Operation Demon, I noticed that, after you kill the ...

Re: SMBX Newsletter - November 2020

Thanks for your efforts! I don't think I'll take part in any of these contests, but it's good to see that levels and episodes are still getting featured.

Re: Is it worth to make more episode?

Good to hear that :) This forum is my favourite means of writing about SMBX, and if I haven't given feedback to an episode in a while, that's partly because I hadn't played SMBX for at least a year, partly because I'm currently focussing on older episodes. (Guess I should alternate between playing o...

Re: Your favorite SMBX episode?

I especially like Reign of the Gatekeepers by Shadow_Flame . My favourite episode so far. Every level lets you discover something new, both (?) gimmicks and details about the background story. New Great Castle Adventure . A very good example of what this community can achieve with joint efforts. Gr...

Re: SMBX2 BETA 4 Release - Feedback and Suggestions here!

About my suggestion for a tutorial episode about the editor: Yes, I envisioned those classrooms pretty much like Jumper has illustrated it. Well, I was rather thinking about the issues that are not so self-explanatory (How to build a tank? How to build an airship? How to let the music fade out, how ...

Re: SMBX2 BETA 4 Release - Feedback and Suggestions here!

I'm not familiar with the like-named platform, but I think skillsharing is what I mean, yes. Like I said, I got carried away and tried to add all sorts of suggestions to the initial idea... So, it's supposed to be a tutorial episode in which players learn how to use the editor. Experienced designers...

Re: SMBX2 BETA 4 Release - Feedback and Suggestions here!

I mean, the permanent "playtesting" is part of the concept: It allows you to immediately jump to the desired classroom (if there's a warp point in each classroom), and once the editor allows on-the-fly editing again, players could apply more easily what they've just learned.

Re: SMBX2 BETA 4 Release - Feedback and Suggestions here!

Despite the guides on how to use the level editor, I still find it difficult to familiarize myself with the matter. And then I was thinking... How about a community project to make an episode about how to make an episode? An episode that you continuously "playtest" in the editor edit: as you learn h...

Re: SMBX Site Q&A

Thank you too! :) Too bad the server broke down when I wanted to reply, and the weeks afterwards, real live kept interfering :-/ So, what I wanted to propose is not a new TI2, but a tutorial episode on how to use the editor and a few ideas for it. Come to think of it... Obviously I should post it in...

Re: SMBX Site Q&A

Thanks for the quick reply, Cedur :)

Could someone tell me what a TI2 is? Already searched the forum for it, but got no result, because theat keyword is "too common". Sorry, like I said, I've been away for a while and so may have missed the introduction of a new term.

Let's make this the Roaring Twenties of SMBX! :D (To be followed by the Thrilling Thirties, the Fantastic Fourties, the... Well, let's think about that later).

Brilliant, welcome on board! I've added your name to the beta tester section. Feel free to join my Discord server (link in the project description) in order to stay up-to-date with any developments on the project. Shadow Flame, while you're at it: I, too, wrote that I would like to be a beta tester...

Re: THE SMBX CLASSICS COLLECTION (VOLUMES 16-17)

Like I said, I would like to playtest an episode, or at least part of it. I'm already a betatester of the Quest for Doxoria project, but they want to release it under beta 4, so no playtesting going on yet. In other words, I can at least start playtesting one of the episodes you've recovered.

Can I help by playtesting something? You know, I appreciate your endeavours in archiving and documenting seemingly lost episodes :-)

Thank you for your honesty :-) I think that greatly contributed to settling things. Me, I ver...

Re: Eri7's levels thread

So, about Link's Journey: I like that level :-) The overall design I find more polished than in "The Sparky Cave". Also, it was sensible to reduce the giant snakes' hitpoints to three rather than give them five, like a regular Giant Piranha Plant would have. I do wish there would have been some more...
